Java is an object oriented programming language which derived most of its features from C++.
This project was initiated in 1991 by James Gosling who had in his mind to develop such a programming language which can be used to developing websites. He completed his project in 1995 and launched it in the market with the name of JAVA. Initially it was named oak on the basis of oak tree located outside his office in California USA. But at the time of launch, there was already a technology in the market named oak technology so he renamed his programming language to JAVA which was derived from java beans whose coffee they used to drink during the developing period.
After it launched and till date JAVA is one of the most popular programming language in terms of security, efficiency, memory management and for developing website.
In 2009 this programming language java was acquired by Oracle corporations so now java is a product of Oracle which was initially of Sun Microsystems.
