Programming Villa wants this website to work for as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification and other assistive technologies.
Measures we take
We build pages with semantic HTML and landmark regions, headings in a logical order, labelled form fields, visible keyboard focus and support for reduced motion. We design text colors and button sizes to meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast and target-size guidance. We have not yet completed a full audit of each page with assistive technology, so tell us if something does not work for you.
Keyboard navigation
We design links, buttons, filters, forms and accordions to work with a keyboard. The search dialog and the mobile menu close with the Escape key.
Images
Course and topic cards show photographs. Where a photograph only decorates a card, we hide it from screen readers because the card text carries the same information. Photographs that add information have alternative text.
Known limitations
Some wide comparison tables scroll horizontally on small screens. Course materials hosted on third-party learning platforms may not meet every guideline; if you have trouble with any material, we will provide it in an accessible alternative format.
Standards
We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement reflects our own design and development practices. We have not obtained a formal accessibility audit or certification.
